NEW MOTOR RULES FOR
LIFTERS
EFFECTIVE DATE 5-12-07
No Radius Lifters
No Mushroom Lifters
No Schupbeck Lifters
No Windage Trays
Nothing must block the lifter from being pulled out of the engine at time of tech.
If lifters cannot be pulled out, this will result in AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION!
Eligible Models
Any American made 1968 through current car except
Station Wagons and Convertibles. No wheel base
alterations are permitted. NO Jeeps, Trucks, or
Corvettes allowed. No Enduro cars.
Bodies
Steel bodies only and must remain stock appearing as
supplied from the factory except for minor trimming of
wheel wells for tire clearance and trimming of the inner
door panels for roll cage clearance. Steel
floorboards and steel
firewall to be put in stock location. All uni-body cars must obtain
original floorboards. Only the dash component, flammable
components and glass must be removed from the car.
Seats must be racing type. The drivers seat must be
securely attached and remain in stock location. Boxing in the
drivers compartment is not permitted. Doors must be welded
shut. Full width screens in place of windshield are mandatory.
A hole may be cut in the hood for air cleaner clearance.
Hood and trunk hinges may be removed. Steel trunk floor
may be altered to allow gas tank placement between the
frame rails. All plastic and metal grills must be removed.
All external chrome, emblems, lights and lenses must be
removed. Rear view mirrors are not allowed. Appearance of
vehicle must be maintained. Body must be presentable.
No spoilers allowed. No body skirting allowed. 5 Star bodies
are permitted, must be stock appearing, and this will be the
officials discretion.
Frames
The frame must remain stock and match the body style.
Cars with unitized bodies must be connected from the rear
of the front clip to the front of the rear clip. No 2 x 4 frame
material can be used to replace stock frame. 10" circumference
to tie uni-body together. Ford and Mopar may run full framed
Chevrolet chassis with all stock Chevrolet chassis components.
All Camaros must be within a 1 1/2" of the following
measurements
on the diagram shown below.

Roll Cage
A full roll cage constructed of 1 1/4" minimum diameter tubing
with a .minimum wall of .85 or .95 is required. The design must
consist of
at least four upright posts securely attached to the car frame
and connected to form a box shape above the driver's head.
The rear uprights must be x-braced behind the driver and be
braced diagonally to the frame of a point near the rear axle.
All joints must be welded and properly gusseted. At least
three bars on the driver's side and two bars on the passengers
side must connect front and rear upright posts in the door
are for driver protection. NO SCREWED PIPE FITTING.
Bumpers
Bumpers must be stock with no additional reinforcement.
The attachment of the bumper to the frame may be
reinforced to prevent loss of bumper. Hook eyelets on
front and back bumper are mandatory for rapid track removal.
Bumper must be chained. No cow catchers. No additional
bracing outside body line (front, rear, side). No sharp edges.
Suspension
Stock suspension only. No coil-over racing type shocks.
All springs and shocks must remain in stock location and stock
shock mount. No weight jack. Fixed hyme-end shocks are
allowed. 9" Ford rears will be permitted in any model car
(Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Mopar). No movement of suspension
components in any way. Stock suspension only. Weight jacks
can be used in front on leaf spring cars. Stock frame cars
can have weight jacks on all 4 coil sprints. Steel top tubular
"A" arms may be used. Bottom A-arms must be stock.
Only one steel body shock with a fixed hyme end are allowed
per corner of car. Strut cars must have 103" wheelbase.
Full frame car wheelbase not under 103". Ford and Mopar
may run full frame with all stock chassis components.
3 or 4 bar cars may run a panhard bar. No hyme ends allowed.
Engines
Mopar- Max. cu. in. 366 (.030 maximum over bore)
flat top pistons only
Ford- Max. cu. in. 357 (.030 maximum over
bore)
flat top pistons only
Chevrolet- Max. cu. in. 355 (.030 maximum
over bore)
flat top pistons only
Stock short valve covers may be used.
Stock ignition components
only; no super coils. Stock two barrel carburetors only. No Holley
Two Barrels. The engine must remain in stock location.
Cars must be self starting. Headers are permitted. Cast iron 2
or 4 barrel intakes are permitted. No aluminum head. Roller tip
rockers are permitted. No roller cams or roller lifters.
Drill for two intake bolts, one on each side of motor (1/8" holes to
receive seal). Motor may not be set back past #1 plug
to center of ball joint.
NO MSD Blasters, NO Supercoils, NO MSD Pro Coils,
NO MSD Power Coils, NO MSD Bullet Distributors (must have stock
part number on the distributor and must have all stock components).
All cars must have steel blow proof bell housing or
blanket.
The Speedway reserves the right to purchase
any competitors engine
for $1500. Refusal to sell will result in suspension for the remainder
of the season. The engine will be considered from flywheel
forward, no exhaust systems.
Any Engine Found Illegal
1st time- Driver will lose all points accumulated from beginning
of year to present time, and no pay will be received for the race.
2nd time- Car and driver will be
suspended for the remainder
of the season
Drive Train
Transmissions must remain stock. Automatics are not
allowed. Manual transmissions must have stock clutch and
flywheel. (Aluminum flywheels are not permitted). A 2"
diameter viewing hole 2" behind flywheel in bottom of bell housing
for tech inspection of clutch. Dust cover must be easily
removed for tech inspection. Cars must have a working
reverse. Two drive line slings are mandatory. Front and rear
drive shaft painted orange or white. Stock rears must be
used and may be locked. No truck or floater rears allowed.
Fuel System
Fuel cells must be relocated to inside of the trunk and
securely fastened. Stock mechanical fuel pumps are mandatory.
No electric fuel pumps. No alcohol or nitrous fuels permitted.
Fuel cells are mandatory.
Wheels and Tires
Steel wheels only with 8 inch maximum rim width. All wheels
must be reinforced and be attached with oversize lug nuts.
Steel bead locks are allowed. No shaving tires. All tires 60
series maximum. Race tires permitted 30 compound.
Safety
Seat belts must be quick release racing type with
shoulder harness and securely attached to the frame
or roll cage. Approved helmets and driver fire suits are
mandatory. Racing gloves are mandatory. A window net
is required on the driver's side. A metal firewall must
separate the driver's compartment from the fuel cell.
The battery may be relocated but must be securely
fastened and have a protective covering regardless of
location. Radios for communication are not permitted.
A fire extinguisher must be mounted in reach of the driver.
Numbers
Numbers must be at least 18 inches high and 2 inches
wide and painted on both sides of the car.
Fractions may not be used.
If it's not written in the rule book, you cannot do it!
Weight
3,000 lbs. after feature with driver in. All cars will be inspected
for safety and compliance to the above specifications. The
Officials interpretation of these rules shall be accepted as
binding. Anything not covered in these rules will be under
the discretion of track officials.
Special Note:
This class is for amateurs only. Drivers with experience in a
more advanced class are discouraged from competing in
this class. No driver competing in an advanced class during
the current year can compete in this class.
The rules and/or regulations set forth
herein are designed to
provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to
establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events.
These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants are deemed to
have complied with these rules. No express or implied warranty
of safety shall results from publications of or compliance with these
rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the
conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury
or death to a participant, spectator or official.
The Race Director shall be empowered to
permit minor deviation
from any of the specifications herein or impose any further
restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable
requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety
shall result from such alteration or specifications. Any interpretation
or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.
Their decision is final.
Up to 15 cars Feature only
Any car bringing out the yellow light for
the second time in any
one event will be removed from the track.
Heat- 5 laps
