Garrett Alberson Wins Thriller, Dillan Stake Dominates Zimmerman Tribute, Altobelli Wins Modifieds

Port Royal, PA -- Garrett Alberson had been due a win with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for some time in 2024. He would earn that win by 0.009 seconds over Devon Moran on Friday night.

In the 40-lap feature event, Alberson would roll of outside row number 2 in would be competing with Ricky Thornton Jr., Tim McCreadie, Moran, and Daulton Wilson early on.

McCreadie would get out to the early lead in Rocket chassis 1 and would lead over Ricky Thornton Jr. and Devon Moran 12 laps before motor issues would slow him to a stop and bring his night to an end.

Devon Moran would inherit the lead and would set the pace until there were just 7 laps remaining when Hudson O'Neal would overtake him in turns 3&4.

O'Neal would try to put Colton Flinner in between himself and Moran and Alberson who was running in 3rd, but O'Neal would make heavy contact with Flinner bringing out the caution flag for the #48.

Before the caution could come out, Moran would retake the lead from O'Neal to lead the field to green with just 6 laps on the scoring pylon.

Alberson would get by O'Neal on the ensuing restart in turns 3&4 and begin his pursuit of Moran over the next 4 laps.

Coming off of turn 4 on the final lap, Moran would slide all the way to the top wall, making contact with the outside guardrail, giving Alberson enough of a run to snag the lead and hold on for the photo finish victory and first of his career with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

In the Zimmerman Truck Repair Limited Late Model A-main for the Ron Zimmerman Tribute Race, Dillan Stake would start outside the front row, jump out to the early lead, and lead all 25 circuits to claim the 2nd annual running of the event as well as the $6,000 payday.

For the Mid-Atlantic Modified finish, Michael Altobelli would lead all 20 laps to win the feature event.

Port Royal Speedway will be back in action on Saturday August 24th for the Rumble by the River finale presented by University of Northwestern Ohio that pays $50,000 to win with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series which will be supported by the Mid-Atlantic Modifieds racing for $10,000 to win.
